San Jose State volleyball (13-4, 11-4 MW) suffered a 3-1 loss Thursday night against the University of Nevada Las Vegas (11-13, 4-9 MW) at Cox Pavillion.
The Spartans lost the first set 34-32, the second set 26-24 and the fourth set 25-16.
The third set of the game was the only one giving them a win at 25-18.
“I’m proud of our efforts in those (first) two sets,” SJSU head coach Todd Kress said on X. “Now we just have to figure out how to make the play.”
Freshman middle blocker Jade Epps came on top, leading the team with six kills on 12 attempts throughout the game.
Senior right-hitter Blaire Fleming recorded 20 kills on 42 attempts and recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 15 digs and 20 kills.
Senior setter Brooke Slusser had 36 assists with seven digs and six kills, while sophomore outside hitter Nayeli Ti’a added 15 kills and was one dig short of her ninth double-double of the season.
“Positive vibes in the locker room tonight after the match,” Kress said. “I think that will lead to continued great effort and positive energy for us moving forward as we hit the home stretch here in Mountain West Conference play.”
The Spartans fell short on the road and will next return home to play Colorado State on at 11 a.m. on Nov. 16.
