San Jose State’s men’s and women’s cross country competed at the Bronco Invitational at Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale hosted by Santa Clara University.
The SJSU men’s team competed first in the 8k run against 16 teams and scored a total of 384 points with a running time average of 26:13.
Sophomore Will Bujake led the Spartans, finishing in 46th place with a time of 25:18.
Bujake also led the Spartan sophomores with the best time in the 8k.
Sophomore Alexander Walker finished int 67th place with a time of 25:44 while senior Michael Chadwick finished seconds behind with a time of 25:47 at 73rd.
SJSU sophomores Cristian Lopez and Nathan Lau finished next to each other, placing at 136th and 137th.
Lopez finished the race with a 28:32 while Lau ran a 28:44.
SJSU freshmen Diego Cortes ran a 26:44, leading the San Jose State freshmen at 111th.
Freshmen Adrian Gomez and Alex Mendoza ran a 27:31 and a 27:47, placing at 128th and 132nd.
In the women’s 6k run, sophomore Amanda Chalburg had the best time for the Spartans, finishing at 55th with a time of 21:54.
Chalburg was one of two Spartan sophomores to compete in the 6k run as sophomore Gabriella Hernandez ran a 24:01 finishing at 159th.
SJSU freshmen Grace Scott led the Spartan freshmen women with a running time of 22:46 and placed at 116th.
Freshmen Malia Seki and Samantha Villavicencio placed 165th and 169th with earning times of 24:33 and 2:44 while Lauren Strazzeri finished with a 26:40 at 181st.
SJSU’s Nereyda Alvarez-Gonzalez was the only San Jose State junior to compete and finished at 121st while running a 22:55.
The women’s team placed 17th with a total of 476 points with an average running time of 23:14.
The next competition for the San Jose State cross-country team will be the Mountain West Conference Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo. on November 1 at 9:00 a.m.
