SJSU women’s tennis (8-2, 0-1 MW) suffered a road loss in its first conference matchup to Boise State (5-6, 1-0 MW) 4-2.

Spartans’ head coach Chad Skorupka said that this game was “a tale of two cities”.

The Spartans were able to take the doubles point thanks to a 6-3 victory from freshman and senior duo Duru Durgun and Rozalina Youseva.

The other doubles win came from freshman senior duo Cheuk Ying Shek and Irena Muradyan. The pair is still undefeated in the spring semester.

Ying Shek went on to win her singles match playing a role in both points for the Spartans Friday. Yet her impressive performance was not enough for the SJSU to keep its winning streak.

Boise State was better in singles play ending the entire match when Bronco senior Pauline Ernstberger defeated SJSU’s Carolina Millan 6-3.

“We need to get all six of our singles players on the same page,” Skorupka said.

Despite this loss, the Spartans still remain undefeated at home hoping to keep it that way against Nevada on Sunday.

The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. as the Spartans try to bounce back.
