San Jose State tennis (8-1) defeated Santa Clara (2-6) 4-0 sweeping it in singles and doubles play winning three straight and remaining undefeated at home.

The game ended when senior Irena Muradyan beat her opponent senior Finley Kalinic 6-3 in the second game of her singles match.

“Most of the time I do not have the opportunity to finish the match,” Muradyan said. “So I think this was very important for me to take as a senior.”

Muradyan also won her doubles match in the beginning with freshman partner Cheuk Ying Shek.

Freshman Duru Durgun won the first singles match for the Spartans keeping the momentum going after doubles.

She credits her doubles senior partner Rozalina Youseva for her impressive performance Friday.

“I think she did a great job today,” Durgun said. “We carry each other very well.”

SJSU head coach Chad Skorupka said that he was happy with the team and wants them to stay focused for their upcoming matches.

“We got the job done today,” Skorupka said “We need to be healthy and focused for a good next month and a half of tennis.”

The Spartans are scheduled to go on the road to play Boise State next week in their conference opener at 10 a.m. in hopes of keeping their winning streak going.
