San Jose State baseball (5-7, 1-2 MW) kept the train moving, winning its second game in a row, this time against Saint Mary’s (8-4) 10-8.
SJSU started off hot, scoring three runs in the top of the first with the help of senior third baseman Dalton Bowling, senior shortstop Theo Hardy, and senior outfielder Robert Hamchuk.
This was not an easy win for the Spartans. The Gaels put up a fight scoring six of their eight runs in the eighth and ninth inning with three in each respective inning.
SJSU head coach Brad Sanfilippo said that the Spartans need to get better and continue to do better.
“We got to do a better job at finishing,” Sanfilippo said.
Senior pitcher Ethan Ross struggled to hold the Gaels off allowing a two-run home run in the ninth.
“(Nolan) George and (Tyler) Albanese did a great job on the mound,” Sanfilippo said. He credited them for the team’s lead.
George and Albanese combined for seven innings pitched, taking the brunt of the pitching game for the Spartans.
Hardy would finish the game for the Spartans batting 2-for-3 with two homers, two RBIs and scoring four runs.
Following this victory, San Jose State is scheduled to come back home to play Air Force at 6:05 pm on Friday and hoping to extend its winning streak to three games.
