San Jose State women’s basketball team (6-22, 1-15 MW) dropped another game, losing 88-73 at home against Wyoming (15-12, 10-6 MW).

Wyoming outscored SJSU 75-44 through the first three quarters.

The story of the game is SJSU shooting 33% from the 3-point line compared to Wyoming’s 75%.

Wyoming’s leading scorer was junior Tess Barnes. Scoring 21 points, including five from behind the 3-point line along with seven rebounds.

After a competitive first quarter which saw SJSU trailing 23-17, Wyoming took over control from there and led 51-30 at halftime.

SJSU managed to go on an 18-1 run during the fourth quarter, but it was already too late.

“I thought our ability to not quit and to continue to stay in the game and to continue to fight,” SJSU women’s basketball head coach April Phillips said. “Pick up our intensity late obviously is a good sign that this team has not quit and that there is some heart in there.”

Sabrina Ma scored 30 points, shooting 5-8 from the field and a perfect 5-5 from behind the 3-point line.

Sydni Summers scored 15 points, shooting 6-10 from the field including 3-4 from 3-point range. This was Summers’ first game back after an ankle injury caused a two-game absence.

Shooting and free throws were the differences in the game.

Wyoming made 61% of its field goal attempts while SJSU made 46%.

SJSU entered the game in last place in the Mountain West standings and is still in last place.

SJSU will host its final home game of the season Saturday against Colorado State, tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
