After winning on a buzzer-beater of its own in their last game against Air Force, SJSU (8-10, 1-4 MW) now felt the other end of it as they lost 85-82 on a three pointer by Fresno State (8-9 1-3 MW) senior guard Isaiah Hill.

This shot came after the would-be go-ahead bucket was taken away from the Spartans on a charging call by junior guard Myron Amey Jr.

That call would set up the Bulldogs for their first Mountain West conference win of the season and would have San Jose State’s conference record drop to 1-4.

A huge blow for the Spartans.

Junior forward Tibet Goerner had a career night in the loss against Fresno State. He put up a career-high 32 points including shooting 7-for-9 from three-point range.

Senior forward Trey Anderson had a big game, scoring 21 points and shooting 5-for-5 from three-point range.

The Spartans made 17 threes as a team on the game which is a season high for the unit.

Unfortunately, this game leans into the storyline of the season for the Spartans: tough losses in close games and struggling to win on the road.

San Jose State is now 1-6 on the road. The Spartans have now suffered loss number six in games decided by six or less points.

SJSU will now travel back home to face off against New Mexico, (14-3, 2-2 MW) one of the best teams in the Mountain West. The contest is scheduled to take place Jan. 24 at 8 p.m.
