Just like 2022, SJSU football boasted 10 all conference players during this year’s award season. Topping the list was sixth-year senior quarterback Chevan Cordeiro and sixth-year running back Kairee Robinson who earned All-Mountain West First Team honors.
Cordeiro entered as the 2023 Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and finished with 2,558 passing yards, 19 total touchdowns and four interceptions. Stats wise, Cordeiro took a step back from last year’s second team campaign, but that’s partially because Robinson took a step forward. Robinson rushed for 18 touchdowns, 1,124 yards and 7.2 yards per carry in 2023.
The lone All-Mountain West First Team defenseman from SJSU was redshirt sophomore defensive end Tre Smith. In 2023, Smith posted career-high’s with 58 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.
Junior nose guard Soane Toia earned All-Mountain West Second Team honors after posting 34 tackles, seven tackles for loss and five sacks. Rounding out SJSU’s second team honorees is redshirt junior Nick Nash. The quarterback-turned-wide receiver logged 47 receptions, 704 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
And five Spartans picked up an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention; grad senior center Anthony Pardue, grad senior safety Tre Jenkins, sophomore cornerback Jay’Vion Cole, junior linebacker Bryun Parham and redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Fernando Carmona Jr.
This is the fourth-consecutive year at least 10 Spartans notched All-Mountain West honors.
