SJSU men’s soccer will play against Seattle University on Saturday, Oct. 21.

The Spartans (6-5-4, 3-2-1 WAC) are riding high off their 1-0 win against Grand Canyon University in the final home match of the year.

This win has kept the SJSU men’s soccer team in fourth place in the Western Athletic Conference standings while Seattle (9-2-3, 4-0-1 WAC) remains in first place.

Although Seattle is currently thirteenth in the country, it’s worth noting that the Spartans won both matches against them last season. SJSU men’s soccer has a 10-11-4 all-time record against the Redhawks.

“Anytime you play a top 20 team, it’s motivation,” head coach Simon Tobin said. “We did it last year, I think when Grand Canyon was in the top 10 of the country and we hopefully will play just as well up in Seattle this Saturday.”

Seattle is currently the only undefeated team left in the WAC. This weekend’s game promises to be a test of skill as the Spartans aim to repeat their previous success.

Seattle’s graduate student midfielder Richard Bedats leads the team in goals with three overall.

But on the SJSU men’s soccer side, midfielder Angel Iniguez leads the conference in goals with five. He also leads in assists with six.

The match will kick off on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Championship Field at Seattle University.
