Scoring as many runs as they have in their last three games combined, the Spartans (15-15, 3-1 MW) took care of New Mexico 12-10 despite a seventh inning scare.

As cliché as it sounds, rain began in the bottom of the seventh and the Lobos capitalized.

An error would start what would become two runs walked in. But with the bases loaded and two outs, Adrianna Noriega took off from center field to the infield grass and laid out to end the comeback.

While blankets and jackets were necessary for the chilling 40 degree Albuquerque, NM weather, 13 hits showed the Spartans bats were as hot as ever.

The bottom half of the order led the offensive charge with Karizma Bergesen and Reina Zermeno both having three RBIs.

Coming off a complete-game one hitter, Jenessa Ullegue continued to impress unleashing her inner-Shohei Ohtani. Not only did Ullegue get the win in relief but also had three hits scoring four times.

Despite the win, they’ll look to limit their free passes given after allowing eight walks Friday.

Although the Spartans allowed 10 runs, only four were earned runs which they hope they can attribute to the craziness of the elements. Jessica Giacoma would routinely be found crossing her arms to warm up amidst a mix of wind, rain and snow.

Mother Nature wanted her presence known tonight with an early lightning delay also occurring.

The team has now won seven of their last eight games and will continue the three game series Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
