SJSU baseball (6-6, 3-0 MW) plays host to the Air Force Falcons (6-12, 1-2 MW) Friday afternoon at Excite Ballpark in San Jose.
SJSU is coming off a blow out loss in their last outing, but is looking to bounce back against Air Force.
Offensively for SJSU, redshirt junior third baseman Dalton Bowling looks to continue his hot streak. Bowling is leading the team in batting average, RBIs, slugging percentage, and home runs.
The Spartans have shown that any player in their lineup is capable of hitting for power. Solid power numbers so far this season include 10 total home runs for SJSU.
SJSU has to capitalize on scoring opportunities when men are in scoring position. In their last matchup against St. Mary’s, the Spartans left the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning with zero outs, with the score of 4-1.
Air Force comes off a high scoring affair in their last matchup winning the ballgame 12-10.
The Falcons are led by 2022 first team all-mountain west junior infielder Jay Thomason. Thomason leads the Falcons with seven home runs and 20 RBIs.
The Falcons weakness is their pitching. All of the falcon’s pitchers hold an ERA over four. The key to a Spartans victory can possibly be taking advantage of the pitching mistakes by these pitchers. Over the last seven games, Air Force has given up at least five runs again.
The Falcons are looking to fly in and soar over San Jose for the weekend, but the Spartans are trying to clip their Wings as conference play starts to heat up.
