A clutch eighth inning helped SJSU baseball (6-5, 3-0) get past San Diego State (4-8, 2-2) in 7-4 victory today after the series moved to San Diego due to rain.
Bowling lead the team with 13 RBI. Just a week ago Bowling hit a two RBI single to bring in the winning runs over Fresno State.
Senior Jack White came in down 4-2 and kept the Aztecs scoreless for the last three innings.
Junior Matt Spear hadn’t had a game with more than one hit this season until today when sent one over right field for a two run HR.
With the bases loaded and one out, SJSU looked to retake the lead. Bowling hit a two RBI single to left field to give the Spartans a 6-4 lead.
The Spartans would another run in the eight after Junior Theo Hardy hit a RBI single to extend the lead 7-4.
White pitched three innings and struck out four batters a season high for a single game and only giving up one hit.
The Spartans did start their double header today, but the game was postponed to tomorrow due to rain. The game will start from the top of fourth tomorrow with the SJSU baseball leading 2-0 starting at 3 p.m. in San Diego.
