After a 45-minute delay due to rain SJSU baseball (4-5) lost 8-4 to Central Michigan (6-5) today at home.

In sharp contrast to this weekend’s series against Fresno, SJSU couldn’t muster any offense as it had only one hit in the final two innings.

The Spartans tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh as junior Robert Hamchuk hit a RBI double to make it a three run game.

Three batters later, SJSU had the tying run at the plate in junior Hunter Dorraugh with two on base and two outs. Dorraugh grounded out as the Spartans still faced three run deficit.

On the mound for the start today was senior Aaron Eden. In his third game of the season, Eden was aiming for second win, but a rough fourth inning washed that away.

Both teams went scoreless through three inning until the Chippewas broke the game open in the top of fourth inning.

Eden had a solid three innings. But the top the fourth gave up six hits, five runs and a home run. Finishing the game with four innings pitched, and a season seven hits allowed to go with five runs given up.

As SJSU made it a game again, sophomore Nathan Hansen who came in the top of fifth walked three batters in row in the sixth.

Junior Corey Sanchez came in for Hansen in the sixth with the bases loaded and one out.

Sanchez trying to keep it a two run game but gave up one hits and two runs as Central Michigan extend the lead to 7-3.

The Spartans will look to bounce back tomorrow against San Fransisco at 1:05 p.m. in San Jose.
