SJSU baseball (4-4, 2-0 MW) took the second game of three games today against Fresno State (5-5, 0-2 MW) in San Jose.
SJSU’s fast start helped to a 6-2 victory as it kept the momentum going from game one.
The Spartans had a strong pitching performance from junior Mickey Thompson pitching six solid innings and giving up only one run. Thompson also had three strikeouts.
Offensively, junior Hunter Dorraugh got the party started with a single to center field to tie the game at one a piece in the bottom of the first inning.
Later in the bottom of third, junior Charles McAdoo gave the Spartans their first led of the game 3-1 with a two RBI single. McAdoo wasn’t quite done yet when he hit a another RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to extend the led to 4-2.
To the bottom of the seventh we go, Dorraugh with two RBI double to push the led to 6-2. Dorraugh finished two for four with three RBIs.
SJSU baseball will play the final game of the series today at 12:05 p.m. at Excite Ballpark.
