SJSU softball extends win streak to five

The SJSU softball team (6-7, 0-0 MW) torched the Sacramento State Hornets (6-7, 0-0 BS) 10-2 during Game 2 of Saturday night’s battle in San Jose. 

The Spartans improved to 4-0 during this weekend’s SVC Classic l. 

Redshirt senior pitcher Jenessa Ullegue made her sixth start of the season Saturday night. Ullegue went five innings giving up only three hits and two earned runs. Ullegue’s record on the season is now 4-2 with an ERA of 4.44. 

Runs were at a premium early on but SJSU opened the floodgates in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring six runs to end the game in mercy rule fashion. 

Ahmiya and Adrianna Noriega led the way on offense against the Hornets. The Noriega sisters combined for three hits driving in five RBIs for the Spartans. 

Ahmiya recorded her second triple of the season driving in two rbi’s in the process. Adrianna went two for three driving in three RBIs. 

Junior right fielder Ashley Rico had a perfect day going three for three with two runs scored.  

Today the Spartans go for the weekend sweep at the SVC Classic l. SJSU (6-7, 0-0 MW) went to battle with the UCSB Gauchos (6-5, 0-0 BW) today at 10 a.m.
