SJSU gymnastics (6-1, 5-0 MPSF) record-setting night leads to a season-high 196.625-194.975 win over the Sac State Hornets.

Spartans Jaudai Lopes blazed the stage by breaking the school record she tied back in 2022 by scoring a 9.950 on the vault. Lopes would go on to end the night with an all-around career-high score of 39.400, finishing 3 events with at least top 4 scores or higher.

In addition, the SJSU beam team etched a new school record scoring 49.325, with Emma Milne improving her school record beam score to 9.950. Milne followed up that score with another first-place finish scoring 9.875 on the bars.

As a result, Milne has increased her team-high first-place finishes to 8 on the season.

In like fashion, junior Lauren Macpherson continued from last week’s performance, sharing first-place ties with teammates after scoring 9.875 on the bars and 9.900 on the floor.

Macpherson, again, broke her career-best all-around scores in consecutive weeks after finishing Friday’s meet with a score of 39.500.

SJSU gymnastics hot streak continues in MPSF conference play

The Spartans blazing this season as they’ve now won 5 straight meets, scoring a season-high against the Hornets.

Equally important, San Jose State is currently on an 11-game MPSF conference win streak, with its last conference loss dating back to Mar. 5, 2021, against Air Force.

As the reigning MPSF Coach of the Year, Joanne Bowers is proving that her formula for success is one to copy. Since taking over the helm at SJSU, Bowers holds a 15-6 record in MPSF conference play.

The Spartans head back home to take on the UC Davis Aggies, Feb. 24, in hopes of completing conference play undefeated.
