SJSU softball finished (0-5) at the Mark Campbell Invitational in Irvine with losses to No. 16 Duke, No. 14 Washington, Liberty, No. 17 Stanford, and No. 1 Oklahoma.

On Feb 10. and Feb 11. the Spartans looked to leave with their first win of the season, but dropped to the No. 1 team in the nation the Oklahoma Sooners (4-0).

In the first inning the pitching woes continued as the Sooners quickly built a 3-0 lead early. SJSU gave up 21 runs in the first inning in the first five games.

The Spartans looked to climb back into the game, but couldn’t get anything going offensively as they only managed to have two hits all game both coming from Freshman Reina Zermeno.

Oklahoma added five runs in the second inning and never looked back, handing SJSU softball its fifth loss on the season.

Next up will be the Saint Mary’s Invitational held in Moraga and San Jose starting Feb. 17.
