The fifth annual Convergence Cup took place Monday May 16 at the San Jose State Student Union Pool Hall between the SJSU staff writers and editors of the Spartan Daily and The Spear.
In this year’s event the staff writers paired up into sets of two to face-off in a very competitive pool table battle with the Spartan Daily writers as one team and the writers from The Spear as another team.
The Spear won the 2022 Convergence Cup trophy 4-2 this time around.
This was the first time the teams were able to meet up for a battle since the pandemic, meaning they have not been able to compete against each other since Fall 2019.
The Convergence Cup started back in 2018 but was paused in the last couple of years due to the pandemic.
They hope to rematch again at the end of Fall 2022 semester for another chance at the Convergence Cup title.
