EXECUTIVE EDITOR: GIO GAXIOLA (@GaxiolaGio)
Gaxiola has displayed an incredible work ethic through his four semesters on The Spear staff. In spring 2022 Gaxiola took on the role of assistant managing editor, his first time as an editor in his Spear career. Gaxiola displays an incredible amount of knowledge on SJSU sports that will prove essential in the coming semester.
MANAGING EDITOR: ERNIE GONZALEZ (@superego1012)
Gonzalez has been with The Spear since its inception, serving as executive editor for three separate semesters. In spring of 2022 he took on the role of managing editor, which he excelled in. Nobody has more experience or love for The Spear than Gonzalez, and he surely will continue to leave his mark in fall 2022.

In her first semester with The Spear, Smith took on a role as a content editor and thrived throughout the Spring 2022 term. Through her work with Update News, Smith has proven herself to be extremely skilled at multimedia and video, which is the area she will primarily focus on in the next semester.
DATA AND SEO ANALYST: THOMAS CHRISTIAN (@ThomasGoatnba)
In his first semester with The Spear, Christian was not only one of the leading contributors as a writer, but also ran The Spear Podcast with co-host Alex McCreery. Christian has proven himself knowledgable in content creation and the “inside baseball” aspects of sports media.
FEATURE EDITOR: JOSE GARCIA (@JoseDGarcia_)
In his first semester with The Spear, Garcia established himself as one of the best feature story writers in recent memory. His work ethic, preparedness and ability to paint a picture through his writing have set him apart. He will now be a part of the editing team, leading on the feature stories.

Through his two semesters with The Spear, Garcia has shone himself to be one of the most skilled and knowledgable writers in the recent history of this outlet. His incredible reporting mixed with his professional-level AP Style skills show his worthiness as a content editor.
