The San Jose State women’s basketball team lost to UNLV in a lopsided game, 104-63.

Lady Rebels guard Justice Ethridge was the game’s leading scorer with 18 points on 60% shooting including 4-6 from behind the arc.

Forward Cydni Lewis was the leading scorer for the Spartans with 15 points and six rebounds. Lewis came out of the gates strong hitting back-to-back threes in the opening minutes.

Guard Ella Ogier tacked on an additional 14 points to go along with six rebounds and three steals.

The Spartans were outscored 54-22 in the paint, and they had no answer for the Lady Rebels’ backdoor cuts. The Spartans had 13 assists while the Lady Rebels had 28 and five players scored in double digits for UNLV.

UNLV guard Essence Booker had 16 points and six assists and center Desi-Rae Young had 15 points on 78% shooting.

The Lady Rebels’ full-court press presented issues for the Spartans who struggled to find their offense.

The Spartans were visibly tired after playing four games over the last week and there was nobody to carry the load against an aggressive UNLV team.

The Spartans drop to 4-22 and the Lady Rebels have their first 100-point game of the regular season.

The Spartans play San Diego State on Friday, February 25.
