The San Jose State men’s basketball team takes on the New Mexico Lobos Sunday at 1 p.m.

In their first meeting on Jan. 28, the Spartans lost to the Lobos 86-70. The Lobos got off to a quick start, outscoring the Spartans 43-32 in the first half.

The Spartans got it together at halftime, shooting 55.6% in the second half, but it was not enough to make up for the rough start. The leading scorer for the Spartans was Shon Robinson with 17 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Guard Omari Moore and forward Trey Anderson also tacked on 14 points each for the Spartans.

A big focus for the Spartans should be to stop the fast New Mexico guards.

In their first meeting, Jamal Washburn Jr. was the leading scorer for the Lobos with 23 points and six rebounds. Lobos guard Jaelen House nearly posted a triple-double with 18 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds.

House scored 42 points against Air Force earlier this month and the Spartans should put a lot of emphasis on containing him.

The Spartans were outrebounded 38-23 when these teams first met, and they must control the glass if they want to come out with a win.

The Spartans are trying to snap a 14-game losing streak and they are seeking their first conference win.
