San Jose State women’s basketball (4-14, 1-9 MW) will be playing the University of Wyoming Cowgirls (9-10, 5-5 MW) Wednesday evening in Laramie, Wyo.

It has been a week since the Spartans terrible loss against University of Nevada Wolf Pack, 88-63.

From start to finish, SJSU played catastrophically. With the lack of teamwork and energy, the Spartans did not match up to the Wolf Pack’s momentum at all.

Junior guard Stephanie Torres was a fighter throughout, constantly finding open pockets and getting herself in positions to get SJSU a bucket. Her lack did not deter her from wanting to strive for greatness.

Freshman guard Sidney Richards was a star from the moment she came off the bench. Richards led the Spartans with 16 points and three rebounds.

Senior forward Cyndi Lewis followed after Richards with 14 points and two rebounds.

Junior guard Ella Ogier was the third Spartan to score double digits. Ogier has now tallied double figures in eight straight games.

SJSU now turns the page to No. 5 in the Mountain West standings, the Wyoming Cowgirls. This is a rescheduled game from Jan. 6.

The Cowgirls just played the New Mexico State Lobos, where they won after a buzzer-beating 3-pointer shot by junior guard Tommi Olson. It was Olson’s only shot of the whole night.

The Spartans will need to keep a close eye on freshman center Allyson Fertig and sophomore guard McKinley Bradshaw.

Fertig lit up the court against the Lobos with 19 points and 18 rebounds against SJSU. Bradshaw followed behind with 16 points and five rebounds.

SJSU is going to need to come together as a team and be aggressive when it comes to Wyoming. These next games for the Spartans will continue to be challenging, so as a team they need to pull through if they want to improve their MW standing.

You can watch the Spartans take on the Cowgirls on the MW Network Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
