San Jose State men’s football (2-2, 1-0 MW) will host New Mexico State (1-4) at CEFCU Stadium on Saturday, October 2.
This marks the first meeting between the two teams since 2012, where the Spartans dominated their opponent 47-7.
The team’s 100th win in CEFCU Stadium came on October 21, 1968 against the Aggies by a score of 52-14.
SJSU looks to continue its historical winning tradition against New Mexico State.
Graduate student Nick Starkel is bringing the heat this season, averaging 8.56 yards per pass and is ranked 21st nationally and having a #5 percentage rank on San Jose State and his longest completion of the season was a 69-yard touchdown against New Mexico.
Although Nick Starkel experienced a devastating loss when he got badly injured last Saturday against Western Michigan. The Spartan’s still have a substantial amount of players who will be able to go against New Mexico State.
Nash and Starkel are exceptional players who were on the team. Adding onto the team are 33 freshman, 19 sophomore, 23 junior, 26 seniors, and 10 graduate students on the roster. SJSU has plenty of teammates to pick out from with Nick out for the game.
The Aggies just average about 20 points per game while Spartans also score 20 points per game.
It looks like it could be a close call in terms of the points but with only four seniors on the team it seems as though SJSU has this under the bag.
With a full roster on the 2021 team, SJSU will be having a great start to the Hall of Fame weekend this Saturday at 7:30 P.M.
