MBB preview: Spartans head down to So-Cal to face off against the Lancers

San Jose State men’s basketball team (1-1) will be playing against California Baptist University (3-0) this Thursday on Nov. 18th in Riverside, Calif.

This game follows a Spartans loss against Stanford, 76-62 on Monday.

Fans and competitors alike should keep an eye out for junior guard Omari Moore.

During the game against Stanford, he was dominant by scoring the highest points in his collegiate career, he managed to secure 21 points in the Spartans’ recent defeat.

Another person to keep an eye out for is Freshman Alvaro Cardenas, who scored 11 points over his last two games with limited playing time. He made his debut an exciting one to look out for and competitors may be surprised to see what this freshman brings on the court.

With Moore and Cardenas on the court, the duo will have a decent chance to steal a game from  CBU on Thursday night.

Cal Baptist University currently has a three-game winning streak that the Spartans have to go against. Their last game was against Jackson University where they won 77-64. Thanks to the Lancers’ Australian freshman guard Taran Armstrong who scored 15 points in the victory and was named the Western Athletic Conference freshman of the week and has already secured his first double-double with 15 points and 12 assists.

This should be an exciting game to watch as we hope the Spartans can break the Lancers’ winning streak and start off their road trip with a win of their own.

Watch the Spartans face off against the Lancers on Thursday at 7 p.m. on the Mountain West Digital Network.
