Women’s volleyball preview: SJSU hosts Boise State

By Anthony Lucido — Reporter

The San Jose State women’s volleyball team (17-8, 11-4 MW) will be hosting its second game against Boise State University (20-8, 9-6 MW) at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Spartan gym.

The Spartans faced off against the Broncos earlier in their season in September, narrowly winning by one point 3-2.

Though, both teams have been doing well overall this season.

Boise State is currently on a five-game winning streak with SJSU having its seven-game winning streak broken by a recent upset last Saturday against Colorado State University 3-0.

The Spartans got back on track with their latest game against Utah State University 3-1 on Thursday.

SJSU holds several strong leaders on its team, such as its outside hitters freshman Madeline Boersta with 22 kills this season, senior Haylee Nelson with 20 and graduate student Latahevai Lousi with 21.

Lousi herself has been noted for leading in most of the games this season for the Spartans.

There are other SJSU athletes with double-digit kills worth mentioning, such as sophomore outside hitter Letizia Cammillucci with 19 kills and graduate student middle blocker Ryann Thomison with 16.

The Spartans face an equally strong opponent, though with a strong team riding on high scores either outcome works in their favor.
