Men’s water polo preview: Spartans host No. 4 Stanford

By Kassandra Zeledon — Reporter

San Jose State men’s polo (15-13, 2-3 GCC) will be hosting No. 4 Stanford University (16-5, 0-3 PAC-12) this Saturday.

The Spartans had a seven-game 7 winning streak but it was abruptly stopped by UC Santa Barbara with a loss of 13-4 in their last game.

In the game against UCSB senior Spartan goalkeeper Yahav Fire got 11 saves under his belt in the game. Fire also is one of the Spartans top players with the Julian Fraser Memorial Invitational Fire scored 12 saves under his belt as well.

Along with Fire in the water there are multiple other Spartans competitors and event goers need to watch out for in the game.

Sophomore utility player Mark Kis is someone folks and competitors should look out for. During the Memorial Invitational, Fire scored 13 goals in all of the four matches throughout the tournament.

With Fire and Kis working together, the duo should be unstoppable against Stanford with its non conference game against them.

The Spartans hope to bounce back from their last loss and restart the winning streak luck that they have been having.

This will be the last non conference game that they have for the season. The last tournament will be the Golden Coast Conference Championship to end off their spectacular season.

See the Spartans take down the Stanford Cardinal this Saturday at 1 p.m. at the SRAC pool.
