Colorado State stops Spartan win streak at seven

San Jose State University women’s volleyball (16-8, 10-4 MW) was swept 3-0 by Colorado State University (16-7,12-2 MW) at Fort Collins, Colo. on Saturday night.

This matchup featured two of the top three teams sitting atop the Mountain West standings.

Both teams came out aggressively in the first set. CSU stopped SJSU in its tracks after a early 7-7 deadlock. The Rams finished the first set on a 18-8 point run to take the first set 25-18.

SJSU came out with three consecutive points won in the second set. Any sort of momentum was washed away by Spartan attack errors.

The Spartans struggled to be in sync all match. They finished with 15 total attack errors.

CSU capitalized on SJSU’s sloppiness and secured a 25-22 victory in the second set.  

SJSU came into this match riding a seven-game winning streak. This would all come to an end in the third set after CSU dominated the net. The Rams put an end to the Spartans’ historic win streak with a 25-16 victory in the third set to complete the sweep.

SJSU was obliterated by its conference foe in aces and kills.

CSU ended the match with 50 kills to SJSU’s 34 kills. The Rams

The Spartans will host their next opponent, Utah State University at Yosh Uchida Hall/Spartan Gym on Nov. 11 4 p.m.
