San Jose State women’s soccer (7-8-1,4-3-1 MW) played against San Diego State University (6-9-1,4-3-1 MW) and ended with a 0-0 tie.
During the first period freshman midfielder/defender Denise Castro and senior midfielder Laura Fuentes went in hard on the offense on the Spartans, with the ball staying on SJSU side for ten mins straight until the Spartans managed to bounce back and keep a level playing field on the Aztecs.
SJSU had two close calls when SDSU were making their shots at SJSU when freshman forward midfielder Alexys Ocampo managed to shoot her shot with the ball hitting the top of the goalie net.
Not long after that junior defender Jessica Sanders made a shot also only for it to be obviously blocked and later the first period ended.
As the second period starts, SJSU this time around had their chance to stay on SDSU side of the field for a while putting the Aztecs in a defensive position.
Freshman midfielder Tiana Cello made her attempted shot with the ball going out to the left of the goalie with sophomore midfielder Cynthia Flores moments later attempting her shot missing to the right of the goalie.
Both teams kept on trading the ball back and forth whether it be a foul or ball going out of bounds til it reaches the end of the second period.
With overtime underway, both teams went aggressive with each other, having more fouls this time around, and at least a yellow card given.
Either team could have scored a point at any given time but with the way Aztecs and Spartans were playing, it was obvious no one was going to score.
With that said, the first overtime finished and the second overtime was basically a repeat of the first one and the game ended in a draw.
SJSU will be playing another game against UNLV on Oct 22 Friday at 7 p.m. in Las Vegas, Nevada.
