Woes continue for Spartan baseball

By Dan Nguyen — Reporter

San Jose State men’s baseball (6-22) lost to Air Force (24-18) on Sunday by a score of 5-3.

The bright spots for SJSU were sophomore outfielder Nik Trapani, sophomore catcher Taylor Justus and senior outfielder Max Flower.

During the 3rd inning, there were three hits and two runs thanks to Trapani who managed to double to right field, giving Justus a chance to advance to third.

Freshman infielder Theo Hardy was able to get an RBI giving Trapani a chance to advance to third and send Justus home making the score 2-0.

Freshman outfielder Kai Saterstrom flew out to left center, giving Trapani the go ahead run.

However, the lead wouldn’t last for the Spartans, as the Falcons came flying back.

Senior Cole Blatchford managed to single up the middle with an RBI giving junior Cayden Zimmerman a chance to advance to second base and gave junior Alexander Pup the run for the Falcons.

Zimmerman, Blatchford and freshman catcher Paul Skenes were able to score thanks to senior infielder Tommy Gillman who managed to get an RBI.

By the fourth inning Flower had tallied another run for SJSU, but the flurry didn’t last long, as Zimmerman scored another run for Air Force in the next inning.

SJSU will battle the University of San Francisco on Tuesday, May 18 at Excite Ballpark in San Jose at 5 p.m.
