San Jose State University women’s golf team played in the NCAA regionals tournament and finished in 9th out of 18 teams at the Stanford Golf Course.
The Spartans played three rounds between May 10 and May 12.
Sophomore Kajsa Arwefjall shot four-under 67 in the final round of the NCAA Stanford Regionals.
She earned one of the three individual spots to the 2021 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships, in Scottsdale Arizona, at the Grayhawk Golf Club.
SJSU made incredible shots in the first round.
Junior Antonia Malate shot an even-par 71 during the first round and the team tied for 13th place with Sacramento State.
Among the 95 golfers, Malate finished 17th, while Arwefjall shot one-over 72 and tied for 33rd, freshman Jordyn Parr shot three-over 74 tying for 51st.
For the second round on the second day, SJSU stayed in 13th place at par 71.
Arwefjall and Malate tied for 20th at one-over 143.
Parr shot two-over 73 and tied for 44 at five-over 147.
Sophomore Jadan Gonzalez shot a 77 and had 11 pars during the round and tied for 90th at 160.
For the final round, SJSU finished at 9th overall with only individual Spartan players like Arwefjall going to nationals.
Arwefjall is the third individual Spartan to qualify for the NCAA championship.
Malate shot one-over 72 and tied for 18th at two-over 215, Parr tied for 57th at 11-over parr and freshman Louisa Carlbom scored an even-par 71 to tie for 67th.
Arwefjall will be moving to the NCAA championship on May 21, Friday in Scottsdale Arizona.
