Spartans win their final game of the weekend to finish successful homestand

In a nail-biting finish, San Jose State women’s volleyball team won their second match 3-2 against Colorado Rams.

After a disappointing performance on Friday the Spartans made an impressive comeback on Saturday to ram Colorado State.

The score went back and forth between the two teams as they battled for a win.

Sets one, four and five proved to be the toughest of the day, but in the end Spartans were victorious  (25-21, 25-13, 25-16, 22-25, 15-11.)

The Spartans lost the first set but came back strong to win the second and third sets. They lost the fourth and were forced to play a tie-breaking fifth set.

The match was up for grabs until the end where Spartans took the lead to finish the final set 15-11 and seal the match 3-2.

The top scorers of the match:

Haylee Nelson smashed 22 kills, 2 aces while Latahevai Lousi made 19 kills, 4 blocks, 2 assists ,14 digs.

Ryann Thomison had 11 kills, one ace, 4 blocks and Mia Schafer scored 2 aces and 58 assists.

Sarah Smevog made recorded 7 assists, 22 digs and Makayla Lewis made 19 digs.

Both teams made their share of errors. SJSU made 18 errors while Colorado made  20 which led to their downfall.
This is the Spartans last match at home of the four game homestand. They will go on the road to face The University of Nevada, Las Vegas on March 16.
