Softball looks to get back in win column versus Broncos at home

By Dan Nguyen — Reporter

San Jose State softball is set to host the Santa Clara Broncos (2-7) on Friday.

Both teams are on losing streaks at the moment, so this game could be a momentum-changer for either squad.

SJSU (3-9) only scored one run in their last game against University of Pacific, with UOP tallying five.

Only freshman infielder Ashley Rico was able to score for the Spartans.

UOP’s offense was something to behold as it was able to get 3 quick scores in both the first and second innings.

The Spartans should be in for a close one against the Broncos for.

SJSU so far has a total score of five home runs whereas SCU only has one

The Broncos are in a tough season lately as they’ve lost three consecutive games.

They do have a good defense as they were able to keep themselves in the lead during their game against University of California, Davis.

It was short lived though as the Aggies offense turned it around and took a five-run lead and finished the game with 10 runs.

The Spartans have a team batting average  of .208  while the Broncos are hitting .243, so this could be a slight problem if SCU is able to hit a small average amount of hits more than SJSU.

It will be a tough battle for the Spartans and the Broncos, but only one will snap their losing streak.

First pitch will be Friday at 4 p.m. broadcasted by Mountain West Networks.
