San Jose State men’s basketball secured its second straight victory over the Air Force Academy Falcons (4-12, 2-10 MW) on Saturday, making it three straight conference wins for the Spartans.
This win puts the Spartans (5-11, 3-9 MW) ninth in the Mountain West for the first time since head coach Jean Prioleau joined the team.
SJSU came out of the gate firing on all cylinders in this game.
The Spartans jumped out to a 15-2 run at the start of the contest, and their lead would grow to as large as 16 in the first half.
SJSU never trailed in this contest, although AF did storm back in the second half— cutting the lead down to three with 7:09 remaining.
Senior forward Ralph Agee was one of the key contributors for the Spartans in this game.
Agee had his first double-double of the season, finishing with 22 points and 14 rebounds. He was efficient with his shots also, cashing in on nine of his 11 attempts.
Junior guard Trey Smith was another Spartan that had a vital performance in this one. The sharpshooter knocked down a career-high five triples and finished the game with a career-high 21 points.
In the first half, the Spartans shot a whopping 61.5 percent from the field, it seemed as though almost any shot they put up was bound to go in.
For the entire game, SJSU shot 51.9 percent, which is still extremely impressive and a definite key in winning this game.
SJSU will look to extend its winning streak to four on Monday as it takes on San Diego State at 8 p.m. at the Viejas Arena in San Diego.
