A week after San Jose State’s Arizona Bowl loss, some of the traveling party is still quarantining in Arizona according to a San Jose Mercury News story Tuesday.

SJSU spokesman Kenneth Mashinchi told the Mercury News members of the university’s athletic department were staying with the quarantining individuals for support.

After winning the Mountain West Championship game on Dec. 19 the Spartans returned to the South Bay to spend the holidays with family — falling short of the 10-day minimum quarantine for people returning from over 150 miles away.

Santa Clara County Executive Dr. Jeff Smith disapproved of their plan, floating the idea of preventing SJSU from leaving for Arizona the following Sunday.

Shortly before the Arizona Bowl kickoff six players and two coaches were announced inactive for the New Year’s Eve game against Ball State, and the Spartans lost 34-13.
