San Jose State football is ranked in this week’s AP Top 25 for the first time since the 2012 season.
The Spartans are 6-0 after beating Nevada on Friday to claim a spot in the Mountain West Championship Game on Saturday. SJSU will “host” the game at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.
The host team was decided via “higher composite computer average in the rankings,” according to the conference.
The Spartans haven’t been ranked since January 2013 when the team was 11-2 under head coach Mike MacIntyre and quarterback David Fales.
UPDATE: The Spartans are No. 24 in this week’s College Football Playoff Poll, the first time ranked since the poll was created in 2014.
