Softball stunned in Stockton

By Max Miller — Reporter

San Jose State softball (19-4) lost a close pitching duel to the University of the Pacific (13-6) by a score of 3-1.

Shannon Haddad (11-3) took the loss but it definitely wasn’t on her as she was the reason the game was close.

Haddad pitched a complete game while striking out five and only allowing five hits. Although  the freshman struggled to find her control in the first inning, she quickly settled down into a rhythm.

SJSU’s offense consistently left runners on-base throughout the game. With a total of 10 runners left on base, the Spartans couldn’t seem to find the clutch hit they desperately needed.

Suzy Brookshire has been the Spartans’ best hitter this season but when she came up as the tying run in the sixth she was unable to come through when it was needed most.

Brookshire failed to even put the ball in play as she struck-out in just four pitches. She had an 0-4 off day.

The Spartans will look to get back on track this Friday at home against Saint Mary’s College at 3:30 p.m.
