The San Jose State Track and Field team took seventh place at the Mountain West Indoor Championships.

The seventh place finish is huge for the Spartans as it is the best indoor ranking in program history.

The women earned 37 points and the men earned 14.

Freshman Mahkaia Lee took eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.46m earning 8 points.

Lee now has the second best score in program history, according to SJSU Athletics.

Another freshman phenom of the weekend was James Burbank. His personal best distance of 7.28 meters earned him a podium spot at third place.

Senior Jennifer Sandoval took 2nd place with a time of 17:03:70 in the 5000 meter run. No surprise there as she has continuously made her name known the last four years.

The relay team consisting of freshman Deborah Cornish, Sydney Bentley, junior Daryia Greene and senior Diamond Tabron took 5th place in the 4×400 meter relay with a time of 3:47:80.

This past weekend concluded the indoor season for the Spartans and their focus is now shifted to outdoor. They have a little over a week to prepare for the first outdoor meet of the season in Hawaii on March 13.
