A poor overall outing for San Jose State baseball (14-14, 8-4 MW) led to a 6-0 loss to Northwestern University (10-13).

The Spartans were shut out in the final game of the series and swept by the Wildcats at Rocky and Berenice Miller Park.

SJSU could not create any support on offense or defense throughout the game. Sophomore starter Connor Konishi was only able to pitch for four innings and allowed five hits and two runs to be scored.

The Wildcats out lasted the Spartans in every aspect of this game.

Northwestern tallied 10 hits in comparison to SJSU’s two. Its runs came in the second, fifth and seventh innings.

The team was led by freshman starter Mike Doherty. He threw 73 pitches in five innings and struck out three Spartans.

Offensively, freshman Michael Trautwein went 3-for-4 on the day and scored one of the six runs. Senior Willie Bourbon led the team with 3 RBIs.

Junior outfielder Blake Berry and sophomore infielder Santiago Cantu were the only two Spartans to produce hits.

SJSU will have to make some adjustments in order to beat the University of San Francisco. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. Tuesday in San Francisco.
