It was an easy day for San Jose State beach volleyball as it swept the University of the Pacific Saturday, 5-0.
The Spartans (9-6) even managed to keep the Tigers (0-2) to two set on every court, keeping defeat far in sight.
Dynamic duo senior Julia Golbeck and freshman Sarah Smevog kept their opponents down to five points. The pair continues to deny any type of losing streak.
The fifth court brought juniors Thaliana Grajeda and Kaitlynn Zdroik to the sand, where they also kept their competition to single-digit points. The most points they allowed was as few as eight.
The closest the Tigers ever came to victory was in the first match against junior Caitlin Bettenay and freshman Tabea Schwartz. The Spartan pair seemed to get a little comfortable when they were up by four points, but the Tigers came back and tied it 18-18.
Bettenay and Schwartz took the first set victory by a slim margin of 23-21 and secured the victory in the second set 21-11.
Practice has been paying off and this match turned out to be a big confidence booster for the Spartans.
