Women’s tennis shut out by Saint Mary’s, 4-0

San Jose State women’s tennis was shut out by St. Mary’s College on Friday at Spartan Tennis Complex, 4-0.

The Spartans (4-4) doubles pairs fought hard against the Gaels (2-8) during the three matches.

Junior Tamara Culibrk and sophomore Savannah Sendar dropped their match 6-2, followed by a 6-4 loss for sophomores Laura Malsert and Klara Milojkovic.

Senior Miyo Kobayashi and freshman Alba Pedrero Galindo’s was unfinished as the Gaels clinched the doubles point.

Clementine Clement faced Kobayashi and came out on top for both sets 6-1, 6-2 and gave the Gaels the 2-0 lead.

Sendar was unable to stand ground against sophomore Hind Abdelouahid 6-3, 6-1.

Saint Mary’s sophomore Maria Kozyreva dominated the court and defeated Culibrk 6-3, 6-3 to give the 4-0 victory win for the Gaels.

The team is back at Spartan Tennis Complex Saturday to face Marquette University at 12 p.m.
