San Jose State baseball (9-6,3-3 MW) was unable to contain the University of California, Berkeley (8-6) in a blow out 13-0 loss.

The Spartans struggled at the plate with a team batting average of .137 and only four hits in the game.

Utility man Connor Konishi (0-1) was handed the ball to start for the Spartans. The sophomore was handed the loss as he pitched three innings and gave up two runs.

The Bears offense plated one run in the first and third innings, and then exploded for a combined 11 runs in the fourth and seventh innings.

SJSU used a total of seven pitchers on the night and were unable to stop the hard hitting Pac-12 Bears from picking up 16 hits.

On the other hand, the Golden Bears staff combined for nine shutout innings also using seven pitchers.

The highlight performer for SJSU was Konishi as he picked up half of the Spartans’ hits by going 2-for-2 on the night.

The Spartans will look to move forward and focus on Mountain West play against UNLV. Game 1 is set for 6 p.m Friday night at Municipal Stadium.
