San Jose State tennis lost 4-2 against University of the Pacific to drop to 4-3 on the season.
The match was delayed by over an hour because of rain, but the Spartans were unable to capitalize on their home court.
SJSU got off to a great start with a come-from-behind win in the first doubles match. Sophomore Savannah Sendar and junior Tamara Culibrk won 6-2 after trailing 2-1 early on in the set.
Pacific clinched the doubles victory after winning the next two matches 6-3 and 7-6. The final match of the doubles was decided by tiebreaker, which the Tigers blew out 7-0.
“It’s disappointing that we lost at home,” said head coach Chad Skorupka, “My hats off to Pacific, they wanted it and it showed.”
Sophomore Klara Milojkovic won her match in straight sets defeating her opponent, 6-1 and 6-3. Freshman Alba Pedrero Galindo also defeated her opponent in straight sets, 6-4 and 7-5.
The two victories were the first to finish in the singles which gave SJSU the edge 2-1.
However, the next three matches finished in quick succession with the Tigers taking the four points they needed to secure the win.
Miyo Kobayashi’s match was in the third set but did not finish.
The Spartans will look to break their three-match losing streak against Grand Canyon University at the Spartan Tennis Complex on Sunday at 12 p.m.
