San Jose State women’s volleyball (14-6, 12-6 MW) lost Tuesday at home 3-2 against Fresno State (16-12, 12-5 MW) in its final match of the regular season.

The box score didn’t reflect the final score as the Spartans outplayed the Bulldogs in attacks, kills and digs.

It was the errors that undid the Spartans, committing 19 attacking errors and 18 service errors to the Bulldogs’ 13 attacking errors and 13 service errors.

“We always try to stay aggressive from the end line. Today, we were aggressive,” SJSU head coach Todd Kress said. “Unfortunately, we just missed more than we should have.”

Trailing the match 2-1, SJSU won the fourth set before falling short in the fifth 15-12 with committing four service errors.

Senior outside and right-side hitter Blaire Fleming led the Spartans with 21 kills.

Sophomore outside hitter Nayeli Ti’a had 17 kills, the only other Spartan with double-digit kills. She also had seven digs.

Junior libero Randilyn Reeves led SJSU with 14 digs, the only player on the team with double-digit digs.

The Spartans had a sideout percentage of 67.3 compared to the Bulldogs’ 68.6%.

SJSU’s next match will be the Mountain West Conference Tournament which is scheduled to take place Nov. 27-30 at COX Pavilion in Las Vegas. The team is awaiting results of other conference matches Thursday and Saturday before knowing what its seed will be.
