San Jose State baseball strives to continue its non-conference success against University of San Francisco Tuesday at Benedetti Diamond.
The Dons (5-5), who are on a two-game losing streak, will look to keep a perfect home record in tact against the Spartans (7-4, 1-2 MW).
With a 4-2 road record, it will be critical for SJSU to stay consistent on the pitching mound and limit the amount of free bases.
The Spartans will need to be aware of USF senior outfielder Kyle Phillips. He holds a .350 batting average with six extra base hits — two of which are home runs.
SJSU is coming off an explosive offensive performance in its last conference game. The Spartans tallied 26 hits in their recent win against University of New Mexico.
Junior outfielder Kellen Strahm will continue to be a major player for the Spartans.
He’s the Mountain West’s BA leader at .478, and is coming off a hot performance of 5-for-6 with 4 RBIs and a 3-run homer in Sunday’s game against UNM.
The starting pitcher for the Spartans has not been named yet.
First pitch on Tuesday is set for 2 p.m.
