In hopes for its second conference win, San Jose State men’s basketball was outplayed in 84-56’s loss to San Diego State.
The SDSU offense was too much for SJSU as it shot 48.5 percent from the field and 42.4 percent from deep. The Aztecs also had five players scoring in double digits.
Senior guard Jeremy Hemsley and sophomore forward Jalen McDaniels were the top performers for SDSU.
Hemsley led the team with 15 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists, while McDaniels was able to contribute 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists. Both players were lights out shooting above 50 percent with at least 10 shots each.
The Spartans were not able to get their offense going as they only had 12 assists, while the Aztecs boasted 23 on the night. The bench did not step up in this game as it only scored 7 points.
Junior forward Michael Steadman was a bright spot for the Spartans with his 10th double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 boards.
Freshman guard Zach Chappell was helpful for SJSU leading the team with 14 points and dishing out 5 assists.
The team’s next opportunity comes against a struggling Wyoming team, who only has one more conference win.
