In its third home meet of the season, San Jose State gymnastics (194.400) finished second in a tri-meet against Sacramento State (192.725) and the University of New Hampshire (194.800).
It was the highest the Spartans have scored this season, topping their previous team-high of 194.175 on Feb. 1.
SJSU earned a season-high 48.825 on the bars and a 48.800 on the floor, out-placing the Hornets and Wildcats on both routines.
Freshman Nikki Duggan (9.775) junior Stephanie Revola (9.825) and senior Kaprece Nadonza (9.875) contributed the most to the Spartans’ top score on bars, as they too earned season bests on the routine.
“It felt really good because I have been coming back from an injury from this past summer,” Nadonza said about her performance on the bars. “It just felt great to get back out there on the mats.”
Senior Josalyn Ray had herself a memorable night as well, also collecting an individual best this season, but on beam with a 9.825 score placing her in a tie for first between all three schools.
“It was really exciting because every meet so far there’s been one skill that I’ve had a wobble on,” Ray said. “I finally nailed every single skill so it was really exciting.”
Taylor Chan continued her masterful season on the floor routine as she hit the 9.900 mark for the fourth time this season.
“Truthfully, I think we all just get so spoiled by her,” said first-year head coach Joanne Bowers. “She’s something special. I’m glad she’s just a junior.”
The Spartans visit Davis next Friday for a conference meet against the Aggies.
