The last time San Jose State women’s basketball (1-11, 0-1 MW) was on an eight-game losing streak was last season. The contest that broke that stretch was against Nevada (4-9, 0-2 MW) at the Event Center.
The Spartans look to make history repeat itself as they host the Wolf Pack in their Mountain West home-opener Wednesday night.
Nevada comes in with a 1-4 road record and losing its last two games by a combined 5 points.
Senior forward Terae Briggs leads the Wolf Pack shooting 52.3 percent from the field and averaging about 17 points per game.
Opponents outplay Nevada in both field-goal and 3-point shooting.
It shoots 44 percent from the field while holding the Wolf Pack to 37.9 percent. From beyond the arc, it’s 31.7 percent compared to 26.6.
The Spartans will look to take advantage from 3 as they shoot 31.3 percent. Junior and sophomore guards Analyss Benally and Megan Anderson lead the team with 24 and 20 3’s, respectively.
The team will look to their leading scorers in sophomore forward Cydni Lewis and junior guard Fieme’a Hafoka. Lewis averages 10.1 PPG and shoots 38.3 percent, followed by Hafoka at 9.5 PPG while shooting 42 percent.
Freshman guard Raziya Potter will also look to make her presence known as she holds a 39.6 field-goal percentage.
With SJSU’s success against Nevada in San Jose, it should fuel the players to push and end the losing skid.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
