In its final road trip of 2018, San Jose State women’s basketball (1-8) heads to Southern California to face Cal State Northridge on Wednesday.
The Spartans will look to end their five-game losing streak against the Matadors (5-7) as they hold the all-time series advantage 8-5.
Center Channon Fluker is CSUN’s top performer and will be the one SJSU needs to tame. The senior leads the Matadors in scoring (16.8), rebounds (11.8) and field goal percentage (.477).
For sophomore guard Meghann Henderson, she’ll be looking to pass the ball instead of taking the shot. She tops CSUN with 45 assists in 12 games.
As a team, the Matadors shoot about 37 percent from the field and allow their opponents to hit 39 percent.
For the Spartans, the team will look to sophomore forward Cydni Lewis and junior guard Fieme’a Hafoka. The duo tops the squad in scoring at 11.1 and 10.4, respectively.
Since the Matadors allow 36 percent 3-point shooting, junior and sophomore guards Analyss Benally and Megan Anderson will look to use that to their advantage and more.
Combined with Hafoka and Lewis, the four Spartans have hit 56 3’s.
CSUN has had success on the boards this season, so coming down with the rebounds on both sides of the floor will be crucial for SJSU.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Matadome.
