Men’s soccer faces Redhawks for final regular-season match

By Madyson Montoya — Staff Writer

The regular soccer season comes to a close as San Jose State’s men’s soccer hosts Seattle University on Friday night.

The Spartans (7-8-2, 5-4-1 WAC) is going to have to execute precisely if they have any chance at redeeming themselves against the WAC No. 2 ranked Redhawks (12-6-0, 6-4-0 WAC).

The last time the two teams met was at the WAC Tournament Championship, where the Spartans fell to the Redhawks 2-1.

The Spartans are coming off a tough loss from UTRGV last week. The team allowed two goals within the first ten minutes of the game, which resulted in their defeat.

This game is a chance for SJSU to prove that last week was a mistake and that the defense can stay on top of its game from the start.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Clewis is also going to have to be on alert. He has had a great season so far and just has to continue making the saves.

It’s also a big night for the seniors as this will be the last time they get to play in the Spartan Soccer Complex.

It looks to be an interesting game as there is momentum coming from both teams. Seattle wants to keep their winning streak alive, while the Spartans will be aiming to get the win for the seniors and clinch a spot in the playoffs.

The game will start at 7 p.m.
