San Jose State women’s volleyball (6-8, 1-4 MW) dropped its fourth conference game of the season at UNLV (12-5, 3-2 MW) 3-1 on Thursday.
After taking the first two sets 25-19 and 27-25, it looked as if the Rebels were going to sweep the Spartans.
SJSU was able to win the third set 28-26 thanks to an incredible comeback from 22-18.
The fourth set also proved to be a struggle for the Spartans as they missed a number of blocks and digs that landed them in a 16-9 hole.
The early deficit created by UNLV proved to be too much for SJSU to overcome and subsequently lost.
Although they took the 3-1 loss, the Spartans played extremely hard and fought until the very end.
One of the many notable performances of the evening was by senior libero Luiza Andrade, who finished leading SJSU with 28 digs and tied for a team-high three aces.
Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Latahevai Lousi also had an amazing night. Lousi finished the night registering twelve kills that led the Spartans in that category.
SJSU will look to recuperate against the New Mexico Lobos on Saturday at 1 p.m.
